Time is one of those subject we don't necessarily like to discuss the older we become. And yet time is inescapable. There is no way anyone can escape the harsh reality that time continues regardless of circumstances and events. Time is no respecter of person, place or thing. All of our decisions are revealed through the process of time. Our characters and true identity is revealed through the ongoing elapse of time. Time is the means by which we measure experience and durability. It is also the means by which we measure failure and expiration. Time is in every aspect of our lives. While you are reading this blog post, time is moving forward and not returning. Even as I sit and type this post, time will only determine the amount of people who will read it.
.
By time we determine when we should rise and when we should retire. It is through time that friendships can grow ever closer or further apart. Time seems to run faster everyday. Can we really come up with a definition for time? Is it enough to describe time as being the system or method of measuring space between sequential events, and being indefinite and continuous, and the means by which we judge things to be the past, the present or the future? Time is hard to nail to one certain definition. And yet I think the best way to describe time is, Mystery.

I would like to know from everyone who reads this post. What do you think Time is?

Time is the human definition of the uncontainable moments of age. It is also: the opposite of love as well as the dash in the middle of the dates on our headstones. Time is...well...TIME!
Very nicely put. I do have one question though... Can you explain how and why Time is the opposite of love?
Because time has a beginning and and end. God created time and one day when we enter into eternity, time will end. However, God is Eternal. He has no beginning and no ending. It is hard for the mind to comprehend that before there was a beginning God was. God is love, therefore love has NO END. Time will end but true love has no ending.

I realize that the question was not directed towards me. Yet when I read it I was intrigued to think about it. Great post!
Actually it's more of an enemy of love than the opposite of love. Love is a choice, yes, but it's also a feeling. If you don't back it with action, time (not hate) will erode that feeling. As preached by a visiting minister...pretty interesting thinking, huh?
Another thought: If God which is love is eternal, than hate who is Lucifer would be attached to time. Time is evil. Time is the consequence of sin. However, the good news is that if time is satan and satan is hate and evil then one day all those things will come to and end!
YIKES!.. Interesting comments. Keep them coming..
Time- sometimes its too slow.
(Genesis 3:3) But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. I think time as we know it today began when Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit. When they ate of the fruit they disobeyed God and sin entered into the world. Before Adam and Eve sinned there was no death. They were going to live forever. However, the moment they sinned time started. They began aging, which in reality leads us all to physical death. (Romans 6:23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Physically, we are all inevidibly dying. This is a process we cannot stop. However when we choose God we are choosing love and spiritual, everlasting life. Any other choice besides God has the opposite affect on us. We may not knowingly, openly realize it but when choose not to live for God we are choosing Satan, which is hate, which is finite and will lead to spiritual suicide. Hebrews 11:25 says...Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;-This scripture gives reference to sin as a season, meaning that sin works on a time frame and it will not last! Pro 14:12 says There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Everything that is of this world is working on a time frame and will eventually come to an end. However, if we choose God our lives will not be based on TIME! John 3:16 says For God so LOVED the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should NOT PERISH, but have EVERLASTING life.
To me, time is a gift, and a curse. It is a dichotomy. The way we use our time determines which it is. We can use our time for God, or we can use it for ourselves. We can use it to glorify His good works, or we can use it to glorify our flesh. It is a blessing and a curse. God has given us a determined amount of time to do with what we wish. It is our decision to take the gift, or act out the curse. God gives us a picture of His timing in Ecclesiastes when He talks about a time and a season for everything. It comforts me to know that He has control of my time on earth...if I let him have it.
I don't know if I explained myself well, but there it is.
Time is the measurement of seconds, minutes, hours and days that split up moments in our lives that make us who we are. Moments are times of love, hurt, joy, pain, smiles, tears and moments with God. Sometimes in those moments, time stand still.
Thanks for the comments everyone! I agree that time is way too slow at times.lol.. I do have a few questions for Mary. If you say God created time, and time is both “evil” and the “consequence of sin.” Does that mean that God created sin and evil before man sinned? Because if time has a beginning it would have started in Gen 1:1 correct? I understand that love is eternal but what about eternal damnation? Is there a sense in which sin is also eternal? How can we commit "spiritual suicide" if spirits live forever?
And is eternity the absence of time or is it simply time that just continues without ending? I'm not trying to pick on you just curious. I’ve been enjoying all the comments from everyone.
Time...something that flys by you while taking waaaaaaayyy too long to do so... =)
Her Being My Friend, I am also interested in what Mary has to say in answer to Tim's question=) To Tim, This blog is intriguing as well as thought provoking! Keep up the good work!
